You don’t alter Vera to fit you, You alter yourself to fit Vera.
This quote was the very first ever introduction I had to the genius that is Vera Wang. After watching Bride Wars, I quickly dismissed her as a couture Bridal designer. I kept these thoughts until I started “getting into” fashion, where I progressed to thinking that Vera made nice clothes. It was not until her Spring/Summer 2016 show at New York fashion Week that I have finally concluded that Vera Wang is not just a couture Bridal designer and she does not just make nice clothes.
Very Wang is a Genius.
A master of elegance and femininity, her designs this season are cool girl chic with feminine elegance and a youthful cheeky twist. The designs are bold and confident and make me think of something a femme fatale would wear in a Bond film. They are experimental, but not to the extent that you couldn’t picture yourself wearing it. The silhouettes are time-less and with the cheeky cut-outs and demure see though panels, I can imagine the women who wear Vera Wang to be the epitome of elegance, class and cool.
Although the quote was referring to a body type that fits to Vera Wang’s designs, I believe the quote is really about the attitude you need to have when wearing Vera to really pull her designs off. You don’t just have to believe you are sophisticated, elegant and demanding. You need to be sophisticated, elegant and demanding — whilst sipping cocktails and breaking poor Mr James Bond’s heart.
